Who is the real Bertha Louise Porter?

Bertha Louise Porter was born in Greig, NY, March 19, 1923 to George Everett Porter and Hattie Wright. Henry and Frances Markham Timmerman took her in as a foster child around the age of 7 - about 1930. They legally adopted her in December 1934. Her name was changed to Elizabeth Timmerman. I checked the 1930 census and found the Timmermans and found George Porter and his wife Anna Henry Porter but neither show a child with them. I have a photocopy of the adoption paper and a copy of her birth registration. I don’t know when she was sent into foster care. Case worker was Almeda J. Carpenter details of the case sealed. Another puzzling thing is on the adoption papers it says that George Porter and his wife Anna E. Porter were Bertha’s foster parents but from the looks of it she wasn’t with them. From my research I found George’s engagement announcement to Anna Henry not very long after Bertha was born. I don’t think he married the mother Hattie Wright. Files are sealed in the State of New York. As direct descendants of Bertha we would like to know – State of New York will not let us. Don’t know how to proceed.

Mystery Picture

I've been on hiatus from my genealogy for a few years but my interest is now back. While searching around my files on my computer to get myself back up to speed, I came upon a picture that keeps me wondering..... is this a relative? While I was visiting my uncle a few years ago I asked him if I could look through his family photos for pictures of relatives. I found the photo of four women and for some reason I had to copy it. No one in my family knows who they are. My mother believes they relatives of Manuel Halepis (in photo on right) from Leka, Samos, Greece. I keep looking at his picture and comparing the two and I wonder if she is right. When I look at them side by side I see a resemblance - but that could just my wishful thinking taking over. No facts to prove anything. Hopefully someone will see this on the Internet and know who they are. But, that could be wishful thinking too....
